M3.1 - Biomonitoring

After watching the Anderson Cooper video that shows the amount of chemicals through the body burden test, it's scary to know that families (especially kids) are exposed to so many chemicals through simple things such as water bottles (phthalates). It's also scary to know that the public barely knows about this and that we are only at the "tip of the iceberg" in learning and knowing about the chemicals (such as DDT and PCBs) and its effects (such as infertility). I hope the U.S. and the world start realizing all of this, so that future generations won't be as exposed and blind to this eerie information. I definitely will start drinking more filtered tap water instead of water bottles because of the CNN video showing that it can contain phthalates.

  1. Hi Matt,

I agree- it is scary! and confusing with how little the public knows about this. I'm glad you are feeling so motivated to monitor your health and change some water drinking habits!

  2. Hi Matt!
your right, it is scary to know that families are exposed to so many chemicals through things like water bottles. it also makes me sad and frustrated that companies are still using those dangerous products to sell to consumers. every time I see a bottle water, I want to ask them why they have not bought a reusable water bottle instead of the plastic one. my dad buys bottle water and I always, always ask him "what, are you too good for tap water?" when I go visit them, I drink their tap water, and I am still alive. lol
