M3.5 - Transportation
In my personal experience regarding transportation and its implications for my health and the health of communities, the San Francisco MUNI system and also the BART system has been great in that it is very accessible, reduces the amount of cars (and therefore car emission into the air), and encourages me to walk more. It's really nice to have confidence in my city's public transportation knowing if I wanted to get somewhere that I can take MUNI or BART, and that at the same time both MUNI and BART are invested in making their buses/trains emit less carbon emissions and trying to reduce their carbon footprint and improve the quality of the environment. It's very cool to see that the SF MTA has been able to decrease the Co2 emission every year. I hope that in the future, MUNI and BART is completely electric so that there is almost 0 carbon emissions from public transportation in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Hi Matt,
ReplyDeleteThats great that you have such a positive connection with SF's public transportation! Do you use it a lot or do you also have a car? I did not know about these systems trying to reduce their carbon footprint. In my post I ask how beneficial public transportation systems truly are on air quality and health. Glad that there have been improvements and I think your suggestion on electric systems is a great idea!
Hey Matt!
ReplyDeletethanks for the heads up that the SFMTA has been able to decrease the CO2 every year. That makes me a little less mad that they raise the prices (just a little, lol). I hope that my money is going towards that decrease in some way!!! lol
thanks Matt!
